Mastering @ King Willy Sound

Hola!

Yesterday Rob and I went to get The Black Book Of The Universe mastered. We decided to use William Bowden a.k.a. King Willy because he's a lovely chap, and he did hotness all over the first Cops album Stomp On Tripwires.

I was a bit nervous as I handed Willy the album because it's the first thing that Rob and I have mixed ourselves, so if it sounded like a pile of shite, then we only had ourselves to blame. Luckily (or maybe luck had nothing to do with it, i dunno) it sounded pretty fucking good, and after many ciggies, (nicorettes for me) and a few ales the whole thing was done and we were absolutely chuffed with the results.

Now for those of you who don't really know what mastering is, rather than explain it myself, i'll just post a link to Wikipedia because i'm a lazy bastard.....

Willy has a beautiful house and an even more beautiful garden complete with a bubbling fountain and a delightful little out-house dunny, although everytime i'm sitting in one of those things I can't help but think about Red- Back Spiders biting me on the arse, although I don't even know if that's happened to anyone before. Actually come to think of it it HAS to have happened.

Anyway after one listen, we've decided that two songs need a slight adjustment and then we are away and into the artwork phase.

We've chosen Hard Rain as the first single, even though its quite different to the rest of the album, I think it's a good summer song, and a nice bridge between Cops stuff and my solo stuff. I think going from Call Me Anytime to Hunter's Moon would be a little jarring. I've just realised that no-one's heard Hunter's Moon yet so what's the point of talking about it? Ahh maybe now you're asking yourself what the fuck does it sound like if it's such a radical departure. Well you'll have to wait. Sorry!
